Abstract

The World View Survey (WVS), measures the level of pessimistic perception that people have about themselves, others, and the world generally. It can be used to evaluate the cognitive impact of traumatic experiences, such as criminal victimization. In this study, data about the relation between the (WVS) results and Beck’s depression inventory (BDI)  has been collected in a convenient sample (n=125 subjects).  The results support the validity of the CPM, as well as the high internal reliability (α=.94); higher scores in the test were related to higher levels of depression, according to (BDI).  In consequence, CPM might be used as a supporting tool of Clinical evaluation or in Juridical Psychology focusing to the negative impact of traumatic experiences; although, it is necessary to study groups of different ages and establish what other variables, in addition to traumatic events might be associated with high scores in this instrument.
