Abstract

Purpose: this work presents an integrated framework for e-health systems readiness, based on the experience in formulating and implementing an intersectoral surveillance system for Wayúu child nutritional health. This framework is useful for e-health solutions readiness assessment in an integrated manner, for all the system´s components in four dimensions at six readiness levels, covering basic research and solution´s demonstration phases. Problem: the framework responds to the need for integrating other maturity/readiness frameworks, different from the TRL scale. Method: the proposed framework was built in three moments: foundations, conceptual synthesis and framework specification. It is formulated by hybridizing the TRL, HRL, EHRA, and SRL scales, considering the Responsible Research and Innovation principles and values. Results: the results discussed how the framework contributes to research teams in understanding the e-health systems multidimensional notion, the ethical and social responsibility involved in the research and development processes, and the need for an inter or transdisciplinary approach. The research actions to be followed beyond this work are also defined.
