FRECUENCIA DE LOS TRASTORNOS MENTALES Y DEL COMPORTAMIENTO EN PACIENTES QUE ASISTIERON AL CENTRO DE ATENCIÓN EN PSICOLOGÍA CES SABANETA (COLOMBIA) (Frequency of Mental and Behavioral Disorders in patients attending at the Psychological Care Center CES)

Resumen

Objetivo: Analizar la frecuencia de los trastornos mentales y comportamentales en pacientes adultos que asistieron a evaluación neuropsicológica en el Centro de Atención en Psicología CES Sabaneta (Colombia). Metodología: Estudio descriptivo - retrospectivo de fuentes secundarias. Se incluyeron todas las historias clínicas de los pacientes que asistieron en el período comprendido entre 2008 y 2010 (n= 371). Se realizó un análisis estadístico univariado de las variables sociodemográficas y clínicas, y un análisis bivariado para explorar la asociación entre la variable sexo y las variables clínicas. Se utilizó como estadístico de prueba el test chi cuadrado, con una confianza del 95%. Resultados: De las historias clínicas incluidas en la investigación, 46 pacientes, que corresponden al 12.4% de la población, presentaron un funcionamiento cognitivo normal, siendo mayor la proporción entre las mujeres y los jóvenes. Los trastornos mentales y del comportamiento más frecuentes fueron deterioro cognitivo leve (54.2%) y demencia (14.8%). Discusión: Los hallazgos obtenidos en esta investigación, en lo que respecta a la frecuencia de los trastornos y su relación con variables sociodemográficas de los pacientes remitidos a evaluación neuropsicológica, coinciden con lo encontrado en la literatura sobre el tema.

Abstract

Aim: To analyze the frequency of mental and behavioral disorders in adults attending to neuropsychological evaluation at the psychological care center CES Sabaneta (Colombia). Methodology: A descriptive study - retrospective secondary sources. All medical records of patients who attended in the period between 2008 and 2010 (n = 371) were included. univariate statistical analysis of the sociodemographic and clinical variables, and a bivariate analysis to explore the association between the gender variable and clinical variables. Quadratus chi test, with a confidence of 95 % was used as statistic test. Results: 46 patients corresponding to 12.4 % of the population presented a regular cognitive functioning, with a higher proportion among women and youth. The most frequent mental and behavioral disorders were mild cognitive impairment (54.2 %) and dementia (14.8 %). Discussion: The findings in this investigation, related to the frequency of disorders and the sociodemographic variables of patients referred to neuropsychological assessment, are consistent with published material about this topic.
