Esquema, imagen, conciencia, y representación corporal: mirada desde el movimiento corporal humano. (Scheme, image, awareness, and representation body: a view from the human body movement)

Resumen

La Escuela Colombiana de Rehabilitación adopta dos modelos teóricos para la comprensión del objeto de estudio enFisioterapia: la teoría de movimiento continuo, y la Perspectiva Funcional y Fenomenológica; sin embargo, aparecen ala luz de estas perspectivas, algunos conceptos como los de esquema, imagen, conciencia y representación corporal,que aún se abordan sin ubicación en los modelos conceptuales mencionados y se han se venido incorporando comodentro de las categorías de análisis de movimiento muy ligadas al campo de la rehabilitación, pero en muchas ocasioneses difícil la correlación dentro de los modelos conceptuales. Se desarrolló un estudio cualitativo de tipo exploratorio,basado en el análisis de contenido para identificar las definiciones más comunes de las variables así como los camposde conocimiento que describen cada variable. Posteriormente se seleccionaron los principales conceptos, principios,niveles y subniveles de las teorías de movimiento complejo y continuo para codificarlos y proceder con la triangulaciónpara identificar la relación. Fueron seleccionados en total, 120 documentos (artículos, libros, capítulos de libro) dedonde se identificaron las principales definiciones y se procedió con el análisis a través de la triangulación. Se pudoobservar que los conceptos que mejor se relacionan con las teorías de movimiento, son los de imagen y representacióncorporal, dado que permiten identificar las categorías de cuerpo subjetivo e intersubjetivo. Se pudo identificar que elconcepto de esquema corporal es el que se ha definido más antiguamente y comparte muchos elementos que podríanubicarlo dentro de categorías netamente biológicas de análisis, sin embargo en la revisión, los conceptos de imagen yrepresentación corporal resultan estar muy relacionados con el contexto, la sociedad y la cultura, elementos que sondefinitivos en las teorías de movimiento.

Abstract

Ohe university "Escuela Colombiana de Rehabilitación" adopts two theoretical models for the comprehension of thestudy subject in Physical therapy: The Theory of Continuous Movement and the Perspective of the Complex Movement,as a need to approach the Human Body Movement from dimensions not only biological but also psychological, culturaland social. However, from these perspectives appear some relevant concepts as body scheme, body image, bodyawareness and body representation, that are not completely clear to the PT professional and have been incorporated intothe movement's categories analysis, very related to the rehabilitation field, making very difficult the interrelation with theconceptual models of movement analysis, based on the biomechanics and the physiology. Exploratory qualitative study,based on content analysis to identify the most common definitions of concepts of schema, awareness, image and bodyrepresentation, as well as a revision of the fields of knowledge describing each of these variables was developed. Thenthe main concepts were selected, same with the principles, levels and sub-levels of complex and continuous movementtheories to encode them and proceed with the triangulation to identify the relationship. A total of 120 documents wereselected (articles, books, book chapters), where the main definitions were identified to make the analysis. It was possibleto identify that the concept of body schema has the oldest definition and shares many elements that might place it in apurely biological category of analysis in relation to sensory integration in an environment through its exploration duringmovement. This concept originates from the biological analysis of the body in areas such as psychology, psychiatry,which defined these elements from the description of mental illnesses that makes it confusing for the physiotherapist.The concepts of image and body representation are usually defined by professions that are not related to health care,and they happen to be very related to the context, society and culture, elements that are very important in the movement theories. Reason to start developing major interdisciplinary investigation about these elements. Example of it it is thepermanent transformation that people develop in the posture characteristics of communities in different stages of thevital cycle in response to the representations and evaluations that society develops concerning the body, implyingpsychological, sociological and cultural dimensions.
