Abstract:

Axial Rotation Knee is one of the movement least documented, which does not have an isolated functional capacity, but it is important to the rehabilitation process because it is directly related to the condition of the cruciate ligaments, collateral ligaments, and joint capsule. Objective: To estimate Internal and External Axial Rotation of knee, with flexion on 90º. Method: A sample of 50 patients was taken, where axial rotation knee flexions on 90º were measured; the instrument used was designed by the authors and it is not validated. Results: 56% of the population was male, aged between 18 and 28 years old, (21.0 ± 2.5), we estimated external rotation with knee flexion on 90º value for both lower limbs that was 26.7 ± 4.9, and the internal one was 22.9 ± 4.9; there was no difference between left leg internal rotation with right leg internal rotation (p>0.05) , similarly it happens with external rotation (p>0.05); however, when external and internal rotation were compared in the same leg, significant differences were found for both lower limbs (p<0.05). When we compared internal and external rotation between men and women, no significant differences were found (p>0.05). Conclusion: the values of internal and external rotation do not differ by gender, but when compared internal and external rotation, we found differences in which the external rotation is the greater one. (p<0,05). . Keywords: Knee, Knee Joint, Biomechanics, Movement.Key words: Knee, Knee Joint, Biomechanics, Movement
