Resumen

La fiebre amarilla es una enfermedad infecciosa, causada por un virus del género Flavivirus y familia Flaviviridae, el cual se transmite por la picadura de mosquitos. Existe un ciclo selvático, en el cual el virus se transmite de mono a mono por la picadura de un mosquito infectado, el género Haemagogus es el vector principal en América y Aedes en África. La infección en humanos es esporádica. El otro ciclo es el urbano, en el cual el virus es transmitido de un humano infectado a otro susceptible por la picadura del mosquito Aedes aegypti. La enfermedad tiene una amplia variedad clínica, desde formas asintomáticas o moderadas en la mayoría de las ocasiones, 90%, a formas graves, 10%, con letalidad del 50%. La fiebre amarilla es una enfermedad que se puede evitar con la aplicación de la vacuna 170, cuya eficacia y seguridad están plenamente documentadas. SUMMARY The yellow fever is an infectious illness, caused by a virus of the genus Flavivirus and fami/y Flaviviridae, which is transmitted by the sting of mosquitoes. Ajungle cycle exists, in which the virus is transmitted from monkey to monkey for the sting of an infected mosquito, being Haemagogus the main vector in America and Aedes in Africa. The infection in humans is sporadic. The other cycle is the urban, in which the virus is transmitted of a human infected to other susceptible for the bite of the mosquitoes Aedes aegypti infected. The disease has a great clinical variety, from asymptomatic forms in most of the occasions, 90%, to mortal forms, 10%, with lethality of to 50%. The yellow fever is an illness that you can avoid with the application of the vaccine 170, whose effectiveness and security are documented fully.
