Sedestación ó permanecer sentado mucho tiempo: riesgo ergonómico para los trabajadores expuestos

Resumen

Para este artículo se realizó la búsqueda bibliográfica en las bases de datoscientíficas como PubMed, Clinicalkey y en revistas como The Journal ofthe American Medical Association y The American Journal of kidney Diseases,de las 58 bibliografías recuperadas en estos sitios , se analizaron 50artículos basándose en el contenido del título y el resumen de los mismos,en los que se encontró que permanecer en sedestación por largos periodosde tiempo ha llegado a ser considerado como sedentarismo, ademásde que esto genera molestias a nivel óseo y muscular, también tiene repercusionesen el sistema cardiovascular, sistema renal, musculo esquelético,a nivel metabólico e inclusive llega a comprometer el estado mental delpaciente. Se han propuesto múltiples soluciones ante este problema, comoaumento de la actividad física y mejoras en cuanto a la ergonomía de loslugares de estudio, trabajo o ambientes en general en donde los pacientespermanecen sentados por más de 8 horas. Realizar cambios frente a laactividad postural y la duración de esta, no solo evitan los riesgos mencionadosanteriormente, sino que reduce los niveles de fatiga, puede llegar adisminuir en un 16 % los valores de glucosa postprandial y evitar la actividadateroesclerótica, proporcionando así una mejor calidad de vida.
